BUTM 2024 was successfully completed over the weekend of 2-3 March. We would like to thank all participants, sponsors, race staff & volunteers for putting in time and efforts to make the event possible. A particular thank you goes out to the local communities in Kiulu and along the racecourse for all assistance rendered and letting us literally run through their backyards.

After a very hot and dry period, a small shower on Thursday helped settle the worst of the dust, and mostly cloudy conditions took the worst of the sting out of the heat during the race on Saturday. Sunday started with clearer skies and the 100k competitors still on the course got baked. Overall, the trail and weather conditions were favorable, and we were pleased to have a higher-than-usual rate of finishers. This included our oldest competitor on the course - Kuppusamy Kanniah - who completed the 32 km with more than 1,500 m elevation gain in less than 8 hours - well done! The extreme heat on Sunday unfortunately forced another 70+ competitor - Pamela Williams of Australia, to (sensibly) abandon her attempt of the 106 km course on the last big and exposed climb between W9 and W10. What a feat to get that far - and had it not been for the grueling heat on Sunday, she would surely have completed it!

There are many impressive stories to be told. We congratulate all finishers and wish those who he did not quite make it better luck next time. Results can be found here. Photos will gradually be posted on our FB site and eventually collected in an album on our Flickr Account

The next BUTM is tentatively scheduled for 22-23 February 2025. Before then we have the TMBT on 14-15 September, 2024, and likely the Borneo 100-Miler in November/December. Happy trailing!
