The 13th edition of Malaysia's original Ultra-Trail Marathon was conducted on the weekend of 30th and 31st August 2025 with more than 1600 participants.
Borneo Ultra Trails would like to thank all participants and everyone contributing to the success of the 2025 TMBT. This includes our volunteers and race officials looking after the competitors at aid stations, our communication teams manning remote stations and keeping runners on track, medic teams keeping everyone safe and looked after, our photographers capturing the spirit of the event for memories and not least the local communities along the route who both provide assistance and let us trample through their back yards. We are greatly thankful to everyone – the race could not be conducted without you!
We had some rain storms coming through the area immediately prior to the event - causing tree falls and slippery conditions on some sections, not least between W1 and W2 where a small hill became a bit of a mud slide. We regret any bottle necks formed on the trails at a result, and appreciate the good spirit that the vast majority of runners showed in tackling the challenges.
For the most part we were blessed with very good weather for running during the event with mostly high clouds leading to cooler conditions but allowing stunning views to Mt. Kinabalu hovering above the courses. A few small showers caused no concerns for well prepared runners. This led to excellent racing conditions and some fast times by the top runners. Full race results can be found at: https://www.racematix.com/site/#results:grp/TMBT-2025 The TMBT is known to be a tough course with plenty of elevation and some steep and technical trails - it is not for nothing that some runners have renamed it from The Most Beautiful Thing to The Most Brutal Thing.... We would like to congratulate all finishers and wish better luck next time for those who did not quite manage to tackle the course.
Photos are being processed and will be gradually posted on Facebook over the coming weeks and eventually gathered in an album on our FLICKR account for easy viewing and downloads. Quality requires time - please be patient as the processing is in addition to a very busy work schedule for our chief photographer.
Our next scheduled event is currently the Borneo Ultra Trail Marathon on 11th and 12th April 2026. On popular demand, we may revive a Super Kerbau in between late in the year for some additional trail fun - keep up the training and we look forward to seeing you all back for another adventure. The next TMBT will be on 29-30 August 2026.
